Vamos Rent-A-Car has a simple and efficient online portal allowing you to easily shop for and book your ideal vehicle. They offer upfront pricing with no gimmicks or hidden fees. If you have any questions or need clarification; you can contact them via phone, e-mail or live chat and they are always quick to respond. Your online booking process is broken down into 3 easy steps:
- Choose your date range and pick up/drop off location: This can be either San Jose or Liberia. They do allow you to pick up at one and drop off at the other for a $50 fee.
- Decide on your vehicle: based on size, transmission, and 4WD ( we recommend getting a 4×4 if you plan to visit any waterfalls or smaller beaches).
- Select your Insurance: We always recommend getting the full CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) as well as the mandatory TPL (Third Party Liability). This completely covers you, your vehicle, and any other vehicles/passengers involved in a potential collision with zero deductible. Now there`s nothing left to do but confirm your booking and get ready for your trip! If you will require extras such as a roof rack or child seats; its best to let them know in advance so that they can have these amenities ready for you upon arrival.
Arriving in Costa Rica
Vamos Rent-A-Car was excellent with communication and left no questions in our minds upon arrival. They were waiting with a sign for us at the airport and took us to the office for no extra charge. Both our shuttle driver and our agent gave us a ton of useful information on driving and places to see while in Costa Rica. The vehicle was exactly as advertised and in top notch condition. We did a full breakdown of insurance, what to do in different situations that may arise and who to call in case of an emergency. We left the rental office feeling very satisfied with the service we received and our rental car.
The Extras
Vamos Rent-A Car offers a variety of complimentary perks that made a huge difference on our road trip! These include: a free extra driver, a cooler, roof racks (arrange beforehand), child seats AND a local cell phone for no extra charge! This phone came with unlimited local calling as well as unlimited data. We used the hot spot the entire time to connect to the internet on and off the road. Additionally; being able to call local numbers came in extremely handy for setting up tours and accommodation. The cooler made grocery shopping a breeze and was so helpful when packing a lunch for the day! These little perks added a TON of value to our already phenomenal rental car experience with Vamos.
Overall; Vamos Rent-A-Car provided us with high quality service and a reliable and well maintained vehicle.
