Spend the Day at Island Lake Lodge
Island Lake Lodge is the perfect place to kick off your getaway this summer in Fernie. There are tons of hiking and mountain biking trails to choose from and you can get trail advice and a map when you arrive. The lodge and the views are absolutely spectacular! Make sure to enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the delicious restaurants after a day outdoors.

Visit the Treetop Aerial Park
The Treetop Aerial Park is located at the Fernie Ski Resort and is open 7 days a week from June to September. It includes rope bridges, swings and zip-lines in a guided 3-hour tour. Tours include all safety equipment and the cost is $68.95 CAD per person or $160 CAD for the whole family.
Hike into Window Mountain Lake
About 1 hour from Fernie near Blairmore; this gorgeous lake is well worth the drive! You will hike up 1-2 hours into Window Mountain Lake where you can spend the day or set up camp for the night. From here its about 1.5 hours further to get a spectacular view of Window Mountain. Find directions and more information HERE.


Float Down The Elk River
Floating down the Elk River is one of the funniest things to do on a hot summer day! Start at the North Fernie Bridge (by the Canadian Tire) and get out at the boat launch in Dogwood Park. It’s a good length of time and mostly free of logjams. Always wear a life jacket and keep an eye out for hazards.


Try Mountain Biking
There are literally endless biking trails you can explore during the summer in Fernie. The Bike Park at Fernie Alpine Resort offers 38 lift-accessed mountain biking trails. There are also many free trails in and around Fernie for all levels. Check out the trail map HERE.


Stroll Around Downtown
Downtown Fernie is full of charm and tons of little shops. Go during the day to shop for outdoor gear, household items, clothing, trinkets, and make sure to stop for gelato and some chocolate at The Beanpod! In the evening you’ll love the lively restaurants and bars serving spectacular food.

Go Cliff Jumping at Silver Spring Lake
Silver Spring Lakes are a series of three beautiful lakes 30 minutes south of Fernie near Elko. The dramatic cliffs and crystal clear water make it a perfect place for cliff jumping! The hike in is around 1 km and fairly steep so we recommend wearing runners or hiking shoes. When you get to the top you can jump from cliffs ranging 15 to 45 feet. All three lakes are spring fed and stocked with rainbow trout during the summer. For more information click HERE.


Go For a Hike

Sample a Flight of Local Beer
The Fernie Brewing Company has 12 fresh brews on tap at one time including Year-Round, Seasonal and Limited Release brews. They have a great tasting room and patio where you can enjoy a flight of 4 or a 12 oz glass. Open 7 days a week this is a great place to unwind and relax for a few hours.
