FACT: You do not need any electrical experience to install a complete solar system for your Campervan, RV, or Boat!
When I first started researching how to install a solar system in our camper van, I got completely overwhelmed with the high cost and how complicated it was going to be to install. I had very little experience with electrical components and absolutely no knowledge and how a solar system operated.
After doing hundreds of hours of research, I finally found solar components that were affordable, simple to install, and built by quality manufacturers that back their products with a solid warranty. Over a year, we have been able to put these products to the test by driving down bumpy logging roads and operating them at temperatures ranging from -30 to +30 degree’s celsius.
During and after our camper van build, we were consistently getting asked how we were able to design and install the electrical system. After making several Youtube videos and answering dozens of questions, I decided to develop a guide that would make installing and wiring a solar system SIMPLE by providing a schematic showing the components, wire size, fuse size, and wire route. The products I used are not only affordable and reliable but also provide the basic charging options for any camper van, RV, or boat. These include charging via solar, alternator, and shore power (plugging into a household outlet or generator).
All of these products can be purchased from Renogy, Canbat, and Amazon which makes ordering all of your parts super easy! The Price & Quantity Chart also lists the item description, dealer, quantity, price, and a discount code. All three of these dealers also ship internationally so no matter where you live, you will be able to order all of the components to your front door with a simple click of a mouse.
Feel confident that you will be able to install an operate your solar system easily! So, without further ado, we are proud to introduce to you…

We gave this guide to a handful of people to try out. Heres what they had to say…
“This guide is awesome! I was having trouble finding information on wiring a solar system that didn’t involve using older products and this was so easy! The schematic was also easier to follow than the photo’s that Renogy provides in the instruction manual. Thank you guys!”
“Contacting Renogy customer was so difficult! I had trouble wiring the DC-to-DC Charger but this guide made the wiring very straight forward!”
“I bought this guide before purchasing anything to do with a Promaster camper-van and I’m so glad I did! It made wiring the electrical system so much easier. Thank you!”
So… What is All Of This Information Worth to You?
If you chose to hire an electrician to install your solar system, you’d be paying him roughly $100/hour for a job that would cost roughly 16 hours to do which add up to a value of over $1,600. Not to mention, if anything went wrong in the future, you’d have to hire him again.
If you wanted to look up this information on your own, you would spend upwards of 60 hours, and heres the kicker: you might not even find exactly what you`re looking for. How do we know? Well, we’ve already done it!
If you bought an old, outdated solar guide, the technology will be out of date and you will end having to pick out new components to build your solar system anyway.
