There’s nothing like the excitement of getting on a plane to mark the beginning of a new adventure. This summer, we had the chance to fly to Europe with KLM in World Business Class and YOU GUYS! It was absolutely incredible.
From the calm of the airport lounges to the lie-flat seats and personalized service on board, our KLM flights weren’t just a way to get from place to place—they were an intentional and restorative part of the journey.

We’ve taken countless long-haul flights over the years, but this journey with KLM—flying World Business Class from Calgary to Europe—was hands down our favourite to date. From the thoughtful service to the smooth, stress-free experience, it truly set a new standard for what overseas travel can feel like.
The Business Class Flight Experience: Restful, Restorative, and Surprisingly Personal
Flying KLM World Business Class turned what could have been a tiring long-haul journey into something truly restorative. It felt like a calm, elevated experience from the moment we boarded. The fully flat seats were a game-changer, allowing us to actually sleep on our overnight flight to Amsterdam.
We’ve done our fair share of redeye international flights, and this was easily the most comfortable and restful one yet.
Small but thoughtful touches made all the difference: a curated comfort kit, cozy socks, a proper blanket and pillow, and noise-cancelling headphones. The personalized attention from the cabin crew was warm and genuine—it didn’t feel transactional, it felt sincere.
The cabin layout also offered the perfect balance of privacy and tailored service, which made the journey feel both calm and connected. Add to that a chef-designed three-course dinner and sommelier-selected wines, and you’ve got a flight experience that feels more like a boutique hotel stay in the sky.
The return flight from Zurich was just as smooth and relaxing, topped off with a keepsake Delft Blue House—an iconic touch that made the whole experience feel extra special.
We got to share the flight home with David’s mom after spending 2 weeks travelling Switzerland together, and her excitement was palpable. Her first time flying business class with KLM was one of the best 65th birthday gifts we could have gotten her!
Having the space to stretch out, sleep, and enjoy the flight meant we landed back in Calgary feeling more like ourselves. No jet lag fog, no sore backs—just gratitude for the trip we’d had and the smooth, thoughtful way it came to a close.
The KLM Crown Lounge: A Quiet Escape Between Time Zones
Between flights, the KLM Crown Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol offered a welcome pause from the hustle of travel. After arriving from North America, we had a few hours before continuing to Greece, and the lounge became our sanctuary.
It’s beautifully designed—modern, spacious, and calm. There is plenty of seating, whether you want to nap, read, or enjoy the views of planes taking off and landing. The breakfast selection was impressive: fresh pastries, fruit, eggs, and excellent coffee from the self-serve espresso bar.
But the real luxury? Private showers. After an overnight flight, getting to refresh and reset like that made all the difference. On our return journey from Zurich, we made a beeline for the lounge again—this time enjoying a light lunch and a glass of wine before boarding.
Whether you need to get work done or want to unwind, the lounge experience is a significant perk of flying Business Class with KLM. It genuinely helped us feel more grounded and present throughout our trip.
Why We’ll Choose KLM Again
