Nepal is a beautiful country filled with jaw-dropping scenery, wonderful people, and incredible adventure. Dwarika’s Resort in Dhulikhel is the single most spectacular place I have stayed not only in Nepal; but anywhere in the world. This 22-acre resort overlooks a stunning valley within the Himalayan Mountains. You are sure to enjoy an immersive experience at this holistic lifestyle retreat.
Location & Getting There
About 1 hour from the capital city of Kathmandu; Dwarika’s Resort is located in Dhulikel, Nepal. They offer a transportation service to and from the airport or you can arrange a car from Kathmandu for 3,500 NR (about $30 USD). During the check in process you will go over the resorts activities and a map of the property while enjoying a welcome drink. To maximize your time here; plan to leave Kathmandu around 12 PM allowing extra time for traffic and check in. The Resort
We were absolutely blown away the moment we entered Dwarika’s Resort. The property is stunningly laid out over a large hillside. Amenities include numerous activities, a full spa, an infinity pool, and multiple bars and restaurants. Most activities are included with your stay so you can spend your day enjoying yoga, meditation, pottery classes, Himalayan salt rock saunas, and so much more! Please be aware that there are many steps leading you through the pathways of Dwarika’s Resort. The walks are always a scenic adventure; but if you have mobility issues this could pose a challenge.
The Rooms
But seriously.. THE ROOMS!! I wish I could have stayed forever in these picturesque villas. Envision a floor to ceiling window overlooking the jaw dropping Himalayan mountains. A heavenly king size bed as well as a daybed to enjoy the view. The bathroom boasts a big soaker tub and a luxurious rainfall shower. All amenities are taken care of from organic shampoo and sun screen to a complimentary bottle of wine. To our delight we even found hot water bottles in the bed after dinner!
So by now you never want to leave this phenomenal room.. right? BUT WAIT.. it gets better. Follow the stairs up for access to your own private rooftop patio! Complete with another daybed, a swinging bed, a lovely sitting area, and a million dollar view; you simply cannot beat it!
The Infinity Pool
We all ooh and ahh over those photos don’t we? The infinity pool with the view so drop dead gorgeous it’ll take your breath away. Well welcome to heaven my friends! Complete with a beautifully landscaped pool area, a restaurant, 2 hot tubs, and a sauna there is enough here to keep you occupied for days all in itself.
Yoga & Meditation
Included in your stay are unlimited yoga and meditation sessions. Yoga classes are offered multiple times per day near the very top of the property. Meditation and Pranayama breathing can also be practiced in a beautiful room below the yoga studio. Make sure to sign up for a private Chakra Meditation in one of the 7 sound chambers. These serene meditation rooms are built throughout the peaceful forest.
Pottery & Art Classes
Also included in your stay are various art classes led by local artists. You can book your session at the reception and explore your creative side in one of these unique studios. The sessions run daily and if you’re staying for multiple days you can continue to build on yesterdays creation.
Cooking Classes With The Chef
The cooking class was one of my favorite activities at Dwarika’s Resort. It costs an extra $15 USD per person; but you get to create a traditional Nepalise dish with one of the resorts renowned chefs. We made veggie momos along with a dipping sauce and masala tea. The class was a blast and the momos were fantastic!
Ayurvedic Consult
Do not miss your free 30 minute consultation with one of the resident Ayurvedic doctors. This experience was interesting and informative; and our doctor was passionate and intelligent. We covered many areas and he used our questions to move the consult in any direction we so desired. Once finished; you have the option to build on your consult with spa treatments or extra time with the doctor.
The Spa
The Spa area offers numerous treatments that can be booked through the reception of Dwarika’s Resort. One of my favorite things in this area is the Himalayan salt rooms. These saunas made of Himalayan salt rock complete with cozy chairs and a serine atmosphere!
Hiking & Farm Visits
There are numerous hiking trails in the area surrounding Dwarika’s Resort. You can get trail information from the concierge when checking in if you’re interested. You can also opt for a visit to their very own organic farm!
