What we didn’t come prepared for, however, was the divine luxury, outstanding hospitality, and mind-blowing meals that we experienced at Atrina Canava 1894.

We were warmly welcomed by the entire staff from the moment we arrived. Each member was exceptionally kind, accommodating, and helpful. From offering insightful recommendations on hidden gems to remembering our breakfast preferences each morning, they consistently went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable.

As the highlight of our Santorini adventure, we soaked up every moment at Atrina Canava 1894. From the private whirlpool on our balcony—seriously… wait until you see the views!— to the gourmet breakfasts served right to our room, this magnificent property exceeded all our expectations.

The Location

With an entrance right along the main walking street in Oia, Atrina Canava 1894 has the perfect location in the most beautiful town in Santorini. Oia is famous for its stunning sunsets, charming streets, and breathtaking caldera views, making it a prime destination for travellers.

Staying in Oia is a huge advantage, as it allows you to explore the town early in the morning or later in the evening after the cruise ship crowds have left.

During the day, when the crowds become overwhelming, you can retreat to the peaceful and quiet comforts of this delightful hotel in Santorini.

The hotel’s location is ideal for those who want to immerse themselves in Oia’s magic fully. Whether exploring the local boutiques, dining at delightful restaurants, or hiking to viewpoints, everything is just a short walk away.

The Property

Atrina Canava 1894 boasts a rich history that dates back to its namesake year when the owner’s great-grandfather acquired two traditionally built caves, or “canavas” in Greek. Fun fact: these caves were originally used for wine production.

As the years passed, the caves were transformed into a complex of suites that perfectly aligned with Santorini’s iconic architecture. This blend of contemporary luxury and traditional charm makes Atrina Canava 1894 unique.

The elegant design and thoughtful details that characterize this hotel in Santorini are captivating. Each space seamlessly integrates modern amenities with the historical essence of the caves, providing a luxurious yet authentic experience.

Atrina Canava 1894 features an exquisite outdoor swimming pool with panoramic views of the Aegean Sea. This was our favourite place to escape the crowds of Oia and cool off in the heat of the day. You can order various drinks and traditional Greek dishes from the restaurant here.

Whether you’re looking for a cozy studio, a luxurious suite, or a spacious villa that can accommodate up to four people, Atrina Canava 1894 has you covered. Many rooms include private whirlpools on your balcony, offering an extra touch of luxury and jaw-dropping views.

When we stepped into our suite, we were completely blown away.

It is easily one of the most gorgeous rooms we have ever stayed in, not only in Greece but anywhere in the world! The beautifully appointed living area featured a comfortable couch, a desk, and a table looking out at the sea.

Our plush queen-sized bed was supremely comfortable, with another seating area and table near the bed. The spacious bathroom was a highlight, boasting a large glass-walled shower and many amenities.

Our private heated pool on the balcony took our experience to the next level.

We spent all of our evening there, where we could unwind and marvel at the famous Santorini sunsets. The tranquillity and luxury of such a feature in our room made our stay unforgettable.

The Food

Another standout feature at this incredible hotel in Santorini was the food. Each morning, we enjoyed breakfast delivered right to our balcony. The process was delightfully simple. Each evening, we filled out a form to order exactly what we wanted and specified the time for it to be delivered.

The next morning, we would wake up to a gourmet breakfast spread, perfectly timed and presented with stunning views.

The breakfast menu offered endless options, including fresh bread, pastries, cheeses, fresh fruit, egg dishes and traditional Greek specialties. We particularly loved the fresh yogurt with honey and the shaksuka. Accompanied by an array of coffee, tea, and fresh juices, breakfast at Atrina Canava 1894 was the perfect way to start our day.

For lunch and dinner, the hotel’s restaurant serves Greek dishes you can enjoy by the pool or in the comfort of your room. The menu features classic favourites like moussaka, Greek salad, and fresh seafood. Each dish was prepared with the freshest ingredients and presented beautifully, reflecting the rich culinary heritage of Santorini.
