We’ve been dreaming about this canyon in Iceland for years and finally got the chance to visit😍🇮🇸 (save for later!)
Stuðlagil Canyon is one of the best places to see basalt columns in all of Iceland. These unique rock formations are created when lava cools very quickly after an eruption. The hardened rock cracks into long geometric columns.
📍 Stuðlagil Canyon
🇮🇸 Located in northeast Iceland
🪧 The west bank is easier to access, but the east bank offers a better view and more opportunity to explore!
🥾 5.5 kilometres + 107m elevation

Is the Sky Lagoon better than the Blue Lagoon in I

Is the Sky Lagoon better than the Blue Lagoon in Iceland?💦🧖‍♀️
In our opinion, YES! Here’s why:
🇮🇸 The price difference is MASSIVE! Our tour, which we booked with Viator, included round-trip transportation from our hotel, a private change room AND access to the entire 7-Step Ritual (the lagoon, cold plunge, sauna, cold steam, body scrub, steam room, and shower). The total price was ISK 24700 ($181 USD) per person.
A similar package including a public shuttle and access to the spa at the Blue Lagoon would cost around ISK 52490 ($385 USD) per person🤯
🇮🇸 The Blue Lagoon is FAR busier than the Sky Lagoon. While there were other people at the Sky Lagoon, we were always able to find an area to ourselves. We never waited in line and found it incredibly relaxing even though we visited on a Friday night.
🇮🇸 The Sky Lagoon is located right in Reykjavík, while the Blue Lagoon is 45 minutes out of town. This is okay if you have a vehicle, but very inconvenient and expensive if you do not. Transfers here are not cheap!
👉Verdict: In our opinion, the Blue Lagoon is overhyped and overpriced. If you want something more affordable, more relaxing, and access to the spa without paying an obscene amount of money, try the Sky Lagoon instead🧖‍♀️

Hengifoss is one of the most unique waterfalls we have seen not only in Iceland, but in all of our travels. The vibrant colors come from alternating layers of volcanic ash and basalt rock.
📍 Hengifoss is located on the east side on Iceland
💦 Its the third highest waterfall in the country
🥾 The hike is 5km + 260m elevation gain round trip
🧇 There is a food truck at the bottom that serves waffles + ice cream 😋
